Melbourne, the best city in the world! I’ve lost count on how many times (repeatedly) it has been rated no.1 most livable city in the world. I’m sure many of you who live in Melbourne or have visited would agree that it’s pretty easy to get lost in Melbourne’s forever blossoming cafe scene. It doesn’t matter if you head north, south, east or west, Melbourne cafes do it best (this would explain the extra kilos I’ve put on too).
As I’ve previously mentioned, Ben and I love our brunches on the weekends at nice little cafes. We’ve been forever exploring with the help of Zomato (highly recommend it). While we were still living in Clayton we found this little treasure located pretty much next to the Hughesdale train station, with a catchy name, Daniel Son. Daniel Son certainly fits the criteria for being a great local cafe for Murrumbeena.
It’s got the typical 2016-2017 look all cafes got for these days, also known as the “industrial” look. You know a cafe will serve good food and coffee by how busy they are but also, they all have the same stereotypical look. There are not a lot of tables inside as the dining area is fairly small.
The menu is fairly straight forward. I usually go for the build your own eggs on toast with a couple of extras, while Ben loves the corn fritters with chili con carne, fried eggs, avocado and a choice of extra side, hash brown. I’d say he is pretty obsessed with the cafe, he’d be more than happy to go there every single week.
It’s quite difficult to find anything to dislike about Daniel Son. Friendly staff, a straight forward menu, charming decor.. Both the food and coffee are fantastic.. Quite difficult to find, especially for people like Ben and I that are quite picky.
The owners of the cafe are lovely people, always with a smile. As you can tell we’ve been there more than just a few times.
If you’re looking for a new place to explore and you’re around the area I’d definitely recommend this little treasure.
