For anyone who loves stand-up comedy, the yearly Melbourne International Comedy Festival is on!! This year’s larger line up includes Arj Barker, Jason Byrne, Ruby Wax, Jimeoin, Bob Franklin, Cal Wilson, Claire Hooper, Frank Woodley, Judith Lucy, Denise Scott and Rove McManus. In the smaller venues you will find independent shows of international and local performers, with over 500 shows in just four weeks.
This was my first experience at the comedy show and I absolutely loved it. We watched Arj Barker – Organic. His performance was good leaving the audience in applause, but to be honest I think he’s had better performances in the past. Nevertheless, he still is a great comedian worth watching.
Ticket prices start at around $20 per person and go over $60 per person. I’d like to sneak in 1 or 2 individual shows in the next week or so if possible, however, I highly doubt it will be possible with my current schedule.
There are also a few major events which are set to be a fantastic addition to the festival like the RAW Comedy National Grand Final at the prestigious Town Hall on 16th April and Upfront, an all-lady comedy super show on 19thApril, also at Town Hall.
Only two more weeks left!
The comedy show is held in various locations in and around Melbourne (check their site)
Dates: 29th March – 23rd April 2017
