Top 3 Picks for Steak in Melbourne

If you are a steak lover like myself, you would understand how difficult it is to find a restaurant that serves good steak. I am an absolute sucker when in comes to it, and I could live the rest of my life having steak every night if I had to. In fact, I’ve been on a quest for the perfect steak for a few years now and so far I have found very few good places.

I am always open to trying new food and new places but when the menu becomes a bit of an exotic language, I tend to end up going with the steak (also because I always feel like it). However, steak is definitely a tricky one to find cooked right and very expensive. I like mine cooked medium rare. I don’t like it when it is under or over cooked. Love that perfect juicy pink color (making myself hungry here).

Nearly every restaurant you dine at these days have steak on the menu. My favorite cut, which is eye fillet, makes it on the menu almost every time and if served with marsh potato, we have a winner for sure.

Here is my top 3 picks:

1. Meat and Wine Co

This is a massively successful business with many locations for meat lovers to appreciate high quality meat cooked expertly, and a culture of fine service and semi sophisticated ambiance. They have 3 locations in Melbourne, Southbank, South Yarra and Hawthorn. The brand builds loyalty with repeat visits from happy diners. The restaurant is a high priced, but worth every penny as they deliver every-time.

2. Steak Ministry

Located in the South-Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Glen Waverley, is one of the best steak restaurants you could potentially find outside the CBD. It is a New York style steak restaurant that gets absolutely packed each night of the week. These guys don’t hold back, they bring the best of the best when it comes to premium meats and service. Sophisticated, yet relaxed, the Steak Ministry is the perfect destination to bring anyone for any occasion.

3. Berth

The food is simple and meets expectations. It’s an architecturally beautiful building, full glass walls, oval shaped design and beautiful interior. The wait-staff are polite and patient, offering recommendations and happy for a chat. Berth is not known for its steak, yet its a fantastic dish. There isn’t many decent restaurant at Docklands, and this one is a little gem. If you’re looking for a cute, romantic dinner date, this could be perfect.

There is a few more Steak places I really have enjoyed and even more I’d like to try eventually.

What are some of your favorite steak places? Any recommendations?

    Wonderful, wonderful Melbourne… 🙂
I’m not a great steak eater; just once in a while does me!
But, what fabulous restaurants there are in Melbourne… so many choices.
We were visiting just a short while back and ate at some pretty great restaurants. We were there to see Kinky Boots (which we loved) and for my Keith to go to a work seminar! Love Melbourne. 🙂
