I am not a massive seafood lover but this one hits the spot. I suppose tuna is not as fishy and it doesn’t have that overwhelming taste or smell. Tuna Mornay is one of our favourite dishes and I made sure I got the recipe from the first time I tried it.
Tuna Mornay is such an easy dish and the ingredients are in the pantry almost every time which is a bonus. I like to serve it with baked or boiled potatoes and vegetables as it compliments it really well.
- 2 cups of rice
- 2 table spoons of margarine
- 1 tablespoon curry powder
- 2 large table spoons of flour
- 2 cups of milk
- ½ lemon juice
- 1 whisked egg
- 1 large tin of tuna in brine (drained)
- 2 table spoon on mayonnaise
Cook some basmati rice , for the base of the casserole . Grease lightly or spray casserole dish then add the rice.
In a pot place margarine and let it melt over medium heat.
Add the curry powder to pot and stir till fragrant.
Add plain flour and mix.
Pour the milk slowly stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
Squeeze the lemon juice and add with the egg whisking lightly until thickened.
Remove from heat, add the tuna and the mayonnaise, mix .
Pour the sauce over rice, sprinkle with mozzarella and bake in a 200 degree (180 degrees fan-forced) oven till golden top .
So simple. Usually takes about 30 mins 🙂
